Responsible AI

Last updated: April 2026

QKAI is committed to developing and deploying AI systems responsibly. We align our practices with the eight core principles of Australia's AI Ethics Framework.

1. Human, Social and Environmental Wellbeing

Our AI systems are designed to create positive value for businesses and society. We assess each project's impact on client team work quality, ensure AI automation enhances rather than replaces meaningful human work, and consider the environmental impact of AI deployment.

2. Human-Centred Values

Final decision-making authority always rests with humans. All our AI Agents include human approval checkpoints, ensuring critical decisions are never fully automated. System design respects user autonomy and protects human dignity and rights.

3. Fairness

We proactively test for and address biases during AI system design and testing. We do not deploy AI for decisions that could have discriminatory impact on specific groups, and we regularly review AI outputs for fairness.

4. Privacy Protection and Security

We follow data minimisation principles, collecting and processing only the data necessary to deliver our services. All data handling complies with the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). See our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Reliability and Safety

Our AI systems undergo rigorous testing before deployment and are continuously monitored in production. Fallback mechanisms ensure safe degradation to human handling when AI encounters anomalies. At least 20 samples are spot-checked for accuracy before go-live.

6. Transparency and Explainability

We clearly communicate the capabilities and limitations of our AI systems to clients. Every AI Agent decision is logged, and clients can review the processing steps and reasoning behind any action at any time.

7. Contestability

If you disagree with any AI system decision or output, you can raise a challenge through our support channels at any time. We commit to investigating and responding within 5 business days, with manual review where necessary.

8. Accountability

Every AI system has clear ownership and escalation paths. We take responsibility for the design, deployment, and operational outcomes of our AI systems, with regular performance reviews and quarterly operational reports.

Our Practical Commitments

As a Sydney-based AI company, we translate these principles into the following specific practices:

  • All AI Agents are accuracy-tested with real or simulated data before going live.
  • Regular reviews of AI system performance and fairness, with quarterly operational reports.
  • Active monitoring of Australian AI regulatory developments, with timely updates to our practices.
  • Ongoing AI ethics training for our team, ensuring every project meets responsible AI standards.
